Clariant inaugura Centro Tecnológico(Clariant opens Tech Center)

The main focus of the new CT, the company said, will be the Brazilian pre-salt and other scenarios of global exploration and production of oil and gas in deep waters. The CT will act in a permanent Brazilian line with other research company located in Houston (United States), Aberdeen (Scotland) and Frankfurt (Germany), and other units in Latin America.
"There was a plan for the CT could serve not only to Brazil but throughout Latin America. We live in a time of very strong growth planned in Brazil and Colombia. We also have a good time in Argentina with its new model for the oil industry in Venezuela and with the range of the Orinoco River. The CT in Rio will support all this growth and Continental all your need for technology, "says Carlos Tooge, vice president of Clariant Oil & Services for Latin America.
According to the executive, the Brazilian CT was designed "to work with the most extreme conditions possible (high pressure, high temperature, heavy oil) and with the latest equipment." Tooge also highlights its importance in global terms: "The TC will not work only for the region, will generate technology to be used in other regions. Will be responsible for the technology in deep waters worldwide. The technology here goes to the Gulf of Mexico to the North Sea to the west coast of Africa and the coast of Australia, "lists.
Tooge adds that the CT is born with the signed agreements and work being developed which, he says, will now be accelerated, "In the pre-salt, we have requests for different types of products and specialty chemicals, such as H2S scavengers, scale inhibitors and desemulsificantes all specific conditions and developed for production in the pre-salt ".
Clariant has a policy not to disclose their investments and merely say that 2.4% of the value of group sales are used in research and development. This value, according Tooge, is divided among all the centers: "I can say that we are investing to cover all the needs of our customers in the area of
operations for the production of oil," he says.

Expansion
In Brazil, Clariant's largest customer is Petrobras, but the Swiss company also has contracts with major international oil companies operating in Brazilian soil, such as Chevron, Shell, Repsol and Ecopetrol, PDVSA and PMEX. The expectation is for the country of optimism and growth: "In Brazil, we expect growth follows the market. We expect a growth of 200% by 2020 for the oil, "says the executive.
The new Clariant Technological Center, located in Barra da Tijuca (West Zone of Rio), began to be conceived in late 2009, and its construction began in July 2011. The building has 600 square feet, and was designed to undergo expansion in that market growth requires: "All the equipment already in CT, and we are now making final adjustments, a test phase of each equipment, safety tests, etc., "says Tooge, adding that the research enterprise continues to be done in units of Suzano (SP) and Macae (RJ).

Formation
Clariant also concerns over the training of skilled labor to operate in the market: "The oil and gas market is growing strongly in Latin America and there is no manpower trained. You can not hire people who have knowledge, so we are investing in staff and training and WHO created the Academy, a program that meets from field technicians to doctors who need to be trained differently. By the end of April this year, we empower more than 200 people, "says Carlos Tooge.
In the new CT, fifteen professionals will always be focused on the research and development. This number, according Tooge, is multiplied by five because of the contact Clariant with Brazilian universities: "We have only the CT teachers and doctors, all trained by universities. We have agreements with universities and worked with masters and graduate students that are held by Clariant. "
"The oil market is dynamic and often need quick solutions to unexpected problems. We made the decision to continue investing in Brazil and, in addition to investing in productive capacity, we also invest in the technology center and training of highly qualified professionals, "says the vice president of Clariant Oil & Services for Latin America.
