De acordo com o estudo pago pela Samsung, mais da metade dos consumidores que viram o anúncio televisivo do Galaxy Tab pensaram que tratava-se de um dispositivo da Apple. A pesquisa ainda mostrou que somente 16% das pessoas ligaram o aparelho à Samsung, e que somente 11% dos consumidores relacionaram o Galaxy Tab à marca sul-coreana, enquanto 65% dos consumidores puderam ligar o iPad a Apple.
A análise de comportamento do consumidor, concluída em 2011, ainda diz que na época a Apple vinha crescendo em consistência, rivalizando diretamente com a Samsung como a fabricante mais lembrada pelo consumidor na categoria de dispositivos mobile, sendo que a marca do iPad liderava a preferência na intenção de compra.
