Xangai, a cidade mais povoada da China, começou a oferecer internet sem fio de graça em 30 locais públicos da metrópole, informou nesta segunda-feira o jornal oficial China Daily.
Estações ferroviárias, hospitais, centros de exposições e pontos turísticos, como os jardins Yiyuan e a região de Xintiandi, na antiga Concessão Francesa, são alguns dos locais onde a população de Xangai poderá navegar de graça, destacou o jornal.
Os usuários podem acessar este serviço através de um site chamado "i-Xangai", que lhes dará duas horas gratuitas de internet por dia. Segundo o jornal estatal, o serviço é oferecido conjuntamente pelas três operadoras de telefonia do país (China Telecom, China Unicom e China Mobile) e faz parte do plano para transformar Xangai em uma "cidade inteligente", comparável a outras grandes metrópoles do mundo.
O número de pontos será multiplicado por 10 em apenas seis meses, e no final de 2013 espera-se que o número de locais com internet sem fio de graça chegue a 450, promete o governo municipal.
