Um protótipo de carregador desenvolvido por pesquisadores para dispositivos iOS conseguiu um feito até então inédito: instalar malware através apenas da conexão em uma fonte de energia.

A pesquisa foi realizada no Georgia Intitute of Technology, e o resultado final será apresentado um em evento hacker que acontece em julho nos Estados Unidos, o Black Hat. Segundo os responsáveis pelo estudo, eles conseguiram instalar um malware em menos de um minuto apenas carregando a bateria.

O grupo não revelou nenhum detalhe de seu trabalho, e apresentará o resultado apenas no evento. O malware foi instalado na versão mais recente do iOS. O método pode afetar qualquer dispositivo com o sistema operacional, mesmo que não tenha acontecido “jailbreak” (destravamento).

O grupo de pesquisadores entrou em contato com a Apple para informar o ocorrido, enviando todos seus relatórios da pesquisa. Porém, a empresa de Cupertino não se pronunciou sobre o assunto, e parece preferir se manter em silêncio.
