Chamada de Facedeals, o equipamento usa o banco de dados de imagens do Facebook para fazer o reconhecimento de frequentadores e realizar o check-in automático cada vez que são flagrados pelo aparelho entrando no local.
Segundo o jornal Daily Mail, a novidade é usada como estratégia de negócios. Bares, por exemplo, oferecem descontos em drinks para clientes reconhecidos pela câmera.
O sistema não foi desenvolvido em parceria com o Facebook. Para habilitá-lo, os usuários devem autorizar o acesso da ferramenta aos seus dados dentro do site de relacionamentos.
Uma vez autorizada, a ferramenta verifica as fotos mais recentes com o nome do usuário e mapeia o rosto, armazenando os dados biométricos do cadastrado. Cada vez que o nome aparece associado a uma imagem, o computador repete o processo aprimora o reconhecimento.
Esses dados são, então, usados para identificar as pessoas quando flagradas pelas câmeras. O sistema, diz o Daily Mail, ainda está em fase de testes.
