What is right
The panel of high-resolution (1280 x 800 pixels, HD) makes a big difference compared to the current standard for screens 7 inch, 1024 x 600 pixels. Rear rubber which, combined with low weight (340 grams) makes the device very easy to hold with one hand. This makes it very good for reading, and facilitates sharing content with friends.
The Nvidia Tegra processor 3 and 4.1 Android operating system resulted in a Jelly Bean machine "light" in the navigation in general.
What is wrong
Lack of a memory card slot. With the limited internal memory only 8 or 16 GB, this is a serious omission and a miserable sacrifice on behalf of a lower price. Amazon received (and deserved) a lot of criticism for something similar on your Kindle Fire (which has 8 GB of internal memory, without slot). Even the tablet Nook, Barnes & Noble has a microSD card slot.
Another absence: a rear camera. There is a front camera for video calls, which are something important today, but scan QR Codes, business cards, barcodes or even take a picture of the cat are practical reasons why a rear camera on a tablet is something desirable. Unfortunately, it was another sacrifice that Google and ASUS had to do to make the Nexus 7 reached its low price.
What is more interesting
The new Google Play widgets that show what you read or hear, seem useful. The new Launcher also seems something quite interesting. Google employees who were demonstrating the tablet said he will be found only on devices with Android 4.1 and screens of a certain size (ie, 7.1 inches). But the widgets are part of the play, and may be used in any unit where it is available.
An important note: the video stores, music, books and magazines from Google Play are not available in Brazil. With that, who chose to import a Nexus 7 will not have access to that content. It is similar to what happens with the Kindle Fire.
The Nexus 7 will cost $ 199 and is already pre-order at Play Google initially only to consumers in the U.S., Canada, Australia and the UK. Deliveries begin in mid-July. Each purchase includes a copy of the movie Transformers: Dark of the Moon, a copy of The Bourne Dominion and a credit of $ 25.00 to be used in Google Play.
