O programa chama-se “#smilesfilm” (http://www.smilesfilm.com/), e permite que pessoas do mundo inteiro vejam e coloquem fotos de rostos sorridentes. Para isso, o usuário deve fazer o upload da imagem com sua localização por meio do Instagram ou do Twitter, acompanhada da hashtag #smilesfilm.
O aplicativo gratuito contém três secções – sonhe, assiste e sorria. O usuário pode ver em um mapa as fotos postadas recentemente, ou vê-las cronologicamente na forma de "slideshow”. Desde 1 de Junho, mais de 3,4 mil fotos foram agregadas ao aplicativo, que está disponível também como site na internet.
“Usando a hashtag, todos os sorrisos são colectados pelo aplicativo, e depois podem ser visualizados global e localmente em um mapa”, explica a descrição do programa, que também é parte da obra artística de Yoko Ono, com um rodízio de fotos que reflete a visão original dela sobre as ligações entre as pessoas no mundo.
"[O sorriso] é a coisa mais simples que há para tu ficares saudável e fazer os outros sentirem-se bem", disse Yoko Ono. Ela admite que nem sempre conseguiu pensar assim. "Para mim também foi difícil", afirmou ela por e-mail. "Depois que meu marido, John Lennon, faleceu, tentei sorrir pela minha saúde".
