A Intel anunciou o lançamento de uma nova linha de SSDs voltados para uso em datacenters com alto desempenho, a Intel SSD 910 Series.
Os drives possuem interface PCI Express, 400 GB e 800 GB de capacidade. O modelo com 400 GB é composto por duas placas, uma com a controladora e com a interface e outra com dois chips de memória flash, enquanto que o modelo com 800 GB inclui uma segunda placa com os chips de memória flash.
Ambos utilizam chips de memória NAND flash MLC (multi-level cell) fabricados com o processo de 25nm.
De acordo com a Intel, o modelo com 400 GB possui velocidades de leitura e gravação de até 1000MB/s e 750MB/s, respectivamente. Já as velocidades do modelo com 800 GB chegam a 2000MB/s e 1000MB/s para leitura e gravação.
A empresa também confirmou que os drives da linha Intel SSD 910 Series consomem menos de 25W enquanto estão ativos e entre 8-12W em repouso. Além disso, os drives trazem um software que ajuda a aumentar ainda mais seu desempenho para atingir velocidades de até 1.5GB/s.
Os drives da linha Intel SSD 910 Series estão disponíveis por US$ 1.929 para o modelo com 400 GB e por US$ 3.859 para o modelo com 800 GB.
