A Sony anunciou que o aparelho para televisores com a plataforma Google TV chegará ao Brasil no final de 2012 e receberá o nome de Internet Player Sony. O preço e a data oficial de lançamento não foram divulgados pela empresa.
Com o aparelho, um set-up-box, qualquer televisor pode acessar o conteúdo da web.
O sistema do Google para TV inteligentes chega ao país com dois anos de atraso. Nos Estados Unidos, a Google TV foi lançada em Outubro de 2010 em parceria do Google com a própria Sony, com a Intel e a Logitech. Por meio do televisor, o usuário poderá acessar conteúdos como vídeos e informações da internet por meio de seu televisor.
A Sony afirma que o consumidor brasileiro terá liberdade e variedade de conteúdos da internet, navegando com o browser Google Chrome e com vídeos em alta definição. Além disso, o Google Play permitirá que os usuários acessem aplicativos de optimização para a TV e suporte para milhares de aplicativos para mobile, incluindo YouTube e Twitter, que irão proporcionar uma melhor experiência ao assistir TV.
O Internet Player Sony virá acompanhado de um controle remoto com sensor de movimentos, contendo um touchpad na parte da frente e teclado iluminado atrás.
Segundo a Sony, Brasil e México serão os primeiros países latino-americanos a receber o Google TV. Além deles, o produto também chegará aos mercados do Reino Unido, Canadá, Austrália, França, Alemanha e Holanda ainda em 2012.
