A Microsoft liberou nessa quarta-feira o download de uma versão de testes do Windows 8, válida por 90 dias. O foco são os desenvolvedores, mas qualquer usuário pode fazer o download após cadastro. O sistema já está disponível em ISO para vários idiomas, inclusive português do Brasil.
Passada a validade do software, a versão expira, sem a possibilidade de uma atualização diz a Microsoft, ou seja, quem adquirir a licença após o lançamento comercial terá que reinstalar o sistema operacional no computador.
De acordo com a empresa, os requisitos de sistema para rodar o Windows 8 são processor de 1 GHz, 1 GB RAM (para a versão de 32-bit) ou 2 GB (64-bit), HD com mínimo de 20 GB livres e o Microsoft DirectX 9 com WDDM driver.
Com lançamento previsto para o dia 26 de outubro, o Windows 8 permitirá ao usuário armazenar e compartilhar informações entre vários dispositivos, graças ao serviço em nuvem SkyDrive, funcionalidade já oferecida pelas concorrentes Apple e Google. O novo Windows também erá uma versão otimizada para aparelhos com tela touchscreen, na tentativa de competir com a Apple e reinventar o Windows.
Versões do Windows 8 já foram liberadas antes, com exclusividade para desenvolvedores, em evento da Microsoft, aos parceiros (fabricantes de hardware) e, agora, chega ao público. No início desse mês, uma suposta versão final foi colocada na internet, sem autorização da Microsoft.

Junto com os lançamentos de testes, a Microsoft já anuncia promoções de atualização para clientes que comprarem computadores com o Windows 7 às vésperas do lançamento. No Brasil, por uma taxa de R$ 29 será possível fazer a atualização no caso de máquinas adquiridas junto a parceiros da empresa de Redmond até o dia 31 de janeiro.
Nos Estados Unidos, o Windows 8 deve custar cerca de US$ 70.
