O alemão Kim Schmitz, fundador do site de downloads Megaupload, fechado em fevereiro, deu a entender em uma mensagem no Twitter que o portal pode retornar em uma versão "indestrutível" ainda em 2012.
"Eu sei que vocês continuam esperando. Está chegando. Este ano. Eu juro. Maior. Mais forte. Mais rápido. 100% seguro e indestrutível", escreveu no Twitter o alemão conhecido como Kim Dotcom, sem citar o Megaupload, fechado em fevereiro por distribuir música e filmes sem pagar direitos autorais.
Em uma mensagem escrita no fim de julho, o alemão destaco: "Mega retornará e será INDESTRUTÍVEL!".
Schmitz também havia anunciado o lançamento este ano de outro projeto, o Megabox, que seria uma espécie de loja de música virtual, mas na qual os artistas receberiam 90% dos direitos, evitando assim as grandes gravadoras.
Criado em 2005 e com sede em Hong Kong, o Megaupload afirmava reunir 50 milhões de usuários e representar 4% de toda a internet.
